After Sexual Assault and Harassment Charges, County Democrats Call for School Trustee Beiser to Resign

In response to multiple allegations of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment against San Diego Unified School Board Trustee Kevin Beiser, the San Diego County Democratic Party has called for the board member's immediate resignation.

The overwhelming vote of 58 to 4 was held on Tuesday night after a thorough discussion of the allegations made by four independent individuals, at least one of whom was present.

"The San Diego County Democratic Party is resolute in our support of the survivors of sexual assault and harassment," said Will Rodriguez-Kennedy, SDCDP Chair. "There is no place in our community or our Party for the heinous behavior that has been alleged here.

"We invited Mr. Beiser to attend our meeting or issue a statement. He declined our invitation and instead provided a statement suggesting that he had only heard about these allegations within 24 hours of our meeting. We know that to be false.

“We will take swift action against any public official who uses their power to abuse others. Kevin Beiser is entitled to his day in court, but we believe that he has lost the confidence of the public and will not be able to focus on the important work of the people. We call on Mr. Beiser to step down from his position, and we encourage all other Democratic elected officials to ask him to resign as well.”
