Chair Rodriguez-Kennedy Blasts Supervisor Gaspar for Backing Trump's Anti-Immigrant Policies

This week the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted to sue the Trump Administration for its policy on asylum seekers, who are now left in local communities without any resources while their cases are processed. After Republican Supervisor Kristin Gaspar cast the only vote against the lawsuit, County Democratic Party Chair Will Rodriguez-Kennedy issued the following statement.

"Last year Republican Kristin Gaspar led the effort to join Trump’s lawsuit against California’s protections for immigrants. Now she is standing with Trump to defend the inhumane treatment of asylum-seeking families.

"Instead of joining all our County Supervisors, both Republican and Democratic, to address the asylum crisis at the border, Gaspar voted to give Trump a blank check to continue his cruel, counterproductive immigration policies.

"Republican Kristin Gaspar is a spineless rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s dangerous agenda. It’s now clearer than ever that for her, serving Trump's agenda comes before serving San Diego."
