Resolution Supporting the 2016 Medi-Cal Funding and Accountability Act

WHEREAS, More than 12 million Californians, including approximately 5.6 million children and 1.4 million seniors rely on Medi-Cal for their health care coverage.

WHEREAS, Consistent availability and delivery of health care throughout California communities is vital and underscores the need to preserve access to emergency and other services provided for Medi-Cal patients and their communities.

WHEREAS, The 2016 Medi-Cal Funding and Accountability Act permanently extends existing law which unlocks approximately $3 billion a year in new federal matching funds to ensure access to healthcare  for Medi-Cal beneficiaries – California’s low- income families, children, seniors and disabled.  

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the San Diego County Democratic Party recognizes the need to increase access to health care by improving funding for Medi-Cal in order to meet the health care needs of children, seniors, and low-income Californians. 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the San Diego County Democratic Party supports the Medi-Cal Funding and Accountability Act of 2016 that will be on the November 2016 statewide ballot.
